Nano Banana 2.1: the new model is live

Bright creative studio: a large monitor showing a vivid abstract image, a paint palette and a stack of fresh prints beside it, plenty of daylight

The Images section has a new model — Nano Banana 2.1. It creates an image from a text description and edits existing pictures with your reference photos, and the resolution goes up to 4K. The model has its own page: /genimages/nano-banana-2-1.

NeuralSpace interface: Nano Banana 2.1 selected in the model picker, the image description field and the aspect ratio and resolution settings

What Nano Banana 2.1 can do

  • Text-to-image generation. Describe what you want to see and the model builds the frame from scratch: an illustration, a cover, a product card or a quick sketch of an idea.
  • Edits with your own photos. Attach up to 14 references in JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC (up to 30 MB each): swap the background, change a material or the lighting, or combine several shots into one composition.
  • 14 aspect ratios. From the 1:1 square and the familiar 16:9 and 9:16 to the stretched 4:1 and 8:1 panoramas and their vertical mirrors 1:4 and 1:8 — the frame fits any platform without a separate cropping tool.
  • Resolution up to 4K. Three tiers — 1K, 2K and 4K: the first for screens and social media, the top one for print, large banners and product cards where detail matters.

The price depends on the resolution

The cost of an image is set by the resolution you pick: 1K — 6 tokens, 2K — 9 tokens, 4K — 13.5 tokens. The price is shown in the form before you start and that is exactly what is charged. If a generation fails on our side, the tokens are returned automatically — you only pay for the result you get.

How to try it

  1. Open the model page Nano Banana 2.1 — or pick it from the model list on the Images page.
  2. Describe what you want, add references if needed, and choose the aspect ratio and resolution.
  3. Check the price before you start and hit Generate — the result lands in your generation history.

The model is available beyond the site as well: it has been added to the public API and MCP — call parameters and rates are described on the API keys page.

When to choose Nano Banana 2.1

It is another tier of the Nano Banana family, and the choice comes down to the task. Nano Banana 2 is the all-round default, Nano Banana 2 Lite is the fastest and most economical for large volumes, and Nano Banana Pro is the maximum-detail option. Nano Banana 2.1 is the pick when you want a fresh variant of the family with a flexible frame and resolution up to 4K.

All the models live on one page: switch the model in the list and the form shows its own settings. Every result stays in the history, where you can repeat or download it.
