Semantic Search in Text (Free) — Online in Your Browser

الخلاصة (BLUF): Free semantic search in your browser (online in your browser): paste a document and your queries — the tool returns ranked matches by exact keywords and by meaning, even when the exact wording differs. The semantic mode finds synonyms: "late payment penalty" also matches "penalty clause". Everything runs on your device; your text is never uploaded.

How semantic search in text works online

Paste text or upload a PDF with a text layer, TXT, Markdown or HTML. The document is instantly split into semantic chunks — sentences and paragraphs — and matched against your queries with a ranked list of similarity scores.

Exact words mode uses weighted TF-IDF term matching: instant, no downloads, finds your exact keywords and phrases. By meaning mode converts each chunk and query into vector embeddings — a multilingual MiniLM model maps paraphrases, synonyms and rewordings.

Keyword vs semantic search: when to use each

Keyword mode fits when you know the exact wording: deadlines, contract terms, section names. It works instantly with no model download regardless of document size.

Semantic mode helps when the wording differs: "who owns the release" finds "testing is assigned to Sergey", and "make our site faster" finds performance mentions. The model (~118 MB) downloads once to the browser cache and works offline afterwards.

Full privacy and on-device processing

Text, files and queries are processed 100% locally in your browser: zero bytes reach the server and zero tokens are charged.

The tool is completely free, requires no login and has no search limits.

أسئلة شائعة

Is the semantic text search really free?

Yes. It runs locally in your browser, requires no subscription and charges no tokens.

Is my text or document sent to a server?

No. Sentence splitting, search and meaning matching all happen on your device. Zero bytes reach the server.

Does it support Russian and other languages?

Yes. Semantic mode is based on a multilingual MiniLM model and understands Russian, English, German and dozens of other languages; keyword mode works with text in any language.

Which file formats are supported, and what about size?

PDFs with a text layer, TXT, Markdown and HTML files, plus pasted text. Documents up to 200,000 characters are supported; short notes and contracts take fractions of a second.

Why search by meaning instead of regular search?

Ctrl+F matches literal strings only: if the document says "penalty clause" while you searched "late payment costs", you miss it. Semantic mode catches paraphrases and rewordings — a search that knows "extend functionality" and "add capabilities" mean the same.
